The 6 of Clubs — The Bridge

The 6 of Clubs is the crossing card. In the Playing Card Oracles it is The Bridge: less a place than a process — safe passage over troubled waters, built of newfound perspectives and hopes, spanning in either direction between future and past.

§ From the Workshop

In the Playing Card Oracles

Less a place than a process, a bridge is a fascinating structure unlike any other. “Bridging” two otherwise disconnected places, this card represents safe crossing over troubled waters.

Bridges of the inner world arise as we are ready to transcend obstacles — the hurts and the fears that have prevented us from moving on in our lives. Newfound perspectives and newfound hopes form the bricks that pave the passage.

Remember that on a bridge one can travel in either direction, and what awaits on different shores presents an interesting prospect: future or past. Within a spread, cards laid out on the left and right of the 6 of Clubs can complete a landscape wherein further insights are revealed — the basis of this system’s Bridge Layout.

When It Falls in Your Spread

As a Person

In a spread, The Bridge marks the crossing underway: obstacles being surmounted, a move to a new place in life, peace of mind arriving as the far shore nears.

As an Energy

As an energy, it is transition made safe — the hurts and fears that blocked the way becoming the very thing you walk over. It can also carry a message or messenger.

The Shadow Side

Mind its two directions: the same bridge that leads onward can lead back into remembering. The cards flanking it show which shore you are walking toward.

§ Elsewhere in the Tradition

The Common Cartomancy Meaning

Traditional cartomancy reads the 6 of Clubs around business success and helpful news — progress with support.

In the Playing Card Oracles, the Sixes are structures of shelter and open pathway; this one is the structure you cross rather than stay in.
